Here, the old is cherished by the new. Traditions are not abandoned to time, rather, they are celebrated and renewed. One such haven exists today, whose very nature cultivates the authentic experiences and unique impressions of a bygone era. Nestled along the mountain stream, sits the hotel with the longest running tradition in Bohinj: Sunrose 7. Built in 1890, this independently-owned and operated Boutique-hideaway bore witness to the construction of Europe’s largest railway system; a lifeline connection between Vienna and Venice which tunnels through the neighboring mountainside.
By the opening of the tunnel in 1906, the Sunrose 7 became the most distinguished lodging in the area. Attracting high-profile visitors from around the region, its prestigious guest list includes members of the Empire’s Royal Family, along with a multitude of societal VIP’s. Indulge yourself with local flavors and royal treatments as you experience a total digital detox. Invigorate your spirit as you sip hand-crafted coffee, bank side, beneath our 125 year-old Chestnut grove. Exploring the nearby alpine meadows, hikers will find themselves surrounded by one of the oldest, and most beautiful, botanical gardens in the world. For the more adventurous, pressing further on along the mountain ridge takes you to the famous valley of the Seven Triglav Lakes. The heart of Triglav National Park is revealed; Triglav Mountain, Slovenia’s 2,864 meter-high crowning jewel. So come. We invite you to relax and rejuvenate both body and mind in the sleepy corner of our mountain home. None of our rooms and suites have TV, phone, radio or other electronics.
Take a break from the fast-paced noisy everyday life and disconnect from your digital gadgets. Enjoy every moment. Lose yourself in nature and fully unwind as the beauty of the Triglav National Park pervades your private world. With nature at your doorstep, indulgent interiors, and exceptional – warm service.

Our mornings begin the same way they did over a century ago; with the aroma of freshly-brewed coffee rousing us to greet a new day. For the guests of our Chestnut Embrace rooms, this is especially magical as they are treated to a sprawling view of the swift sunrise over the Alps and nearby Ceconi Botanical Park. Closer still are the Slovenian Chestnut trees from which our rooms bear their names. Planted over 120 years ago, these gentle giants grace the road leading to our cozy Alpine town and provide shelter and charm every step of the way. During early autumn, their leaves turn a soft orange color, before finally giving way to a deep, chestnut brown and the impending sleep of winter. With the dawning of spring, comes new life as the chestnuts awaken, sprouting fresh green leaves bejeweled with clusters of white flowers. Despite which season you decide to stay, our Chestnut rooms will leave you anticipating another return to witness nature’s majestical beauty.
The Chestnut Embrace Traditional Room boasts a comfy hypoallergenic bed (180 x 200 cm) with organically sourced cotton sheets and covers with multiple pillows of varying firmness for individual liking. Walls and furnishings in local spruce wood, flooring in oak with underfloor heating and individually controlled air conditioning. Bathroom with floor and wall heating and walk-in shower. Hairdryer, Lighted mirror and Organic GUILD+ toiletries. Views of the Mountains and Cecconi Botanical Park. One room also features a romantic marble balcony.
